A college teacher I greatly admired died a few yrs ago and I was amazed the more I thought about it, just what an influence he had had and has on my thinking about art and viewing the world as a whole. A great teacher can change a person's life. This is such a lovely tribute to your teacher and friend. A studio on the Bowery and then a move to rural France, she crafted a nice & interesting life!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16549500158780025781noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1936412886064298924.post-40464174048482738182012-01-13T06:53:50.892-08:002012-01-13T06:53:50.892-08:00thank you both for reading. I'm trying so desperately to remember all the things she said, but I think that maybe the important part is even if I can't remember the words, I remember the ideas so viscerally.Margothttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08808843694777976536noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1936412886064298924.post-20843041212922141122012-01-13T06:05:06.050-08:002012-01-13T06:05:06.050-08:00Hey Margot, I share your feelings. That foundation has supported me in all of my art making since, I would be lost with out it.SewManyMenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03256562194251967131noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1936412886064298924.post-54918346586995390782012-01-12T09:40:41.012-08:002012-01-12T09:40:41.012-08:00margot,
thank you for sharing your thoughts about ...margot,
thank you for sharing your thoughts about jan.
and it's so true....
i don't think there's a day that's gone by since our days at suny-purchase that i haven't reflected on something she'd taught us, or saw something in a jan influenced way, or wanted to ask someone "and what did you have for breakfast...", or wondered what jan was thinking about x or y political situation etc etc.
so glad to see you're still making art.
xo
adam
[@madaecnerwal on twitter]Adam Lawrencenoreply@blogger.com
